Job Description
The Data Analyst will play a pivotal role within the PEAL department, contributing to economic research, data analysis, and program evaluation. The role involves managing the data lifecycle, running economic models, preparing reports, and providing insights to inform decision-making processes. This position requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and measure impact.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct economic research and analyze trends to inform program interventions.
- Utilize econometric techniques and statistical analysis to interpret data and provide technical guidance.
- Analyze program outcome datasets to aid informed decision-making.
- Lead data quality checks and manage field data collection activities.
- Design, update, and document data collection and aggregation tools.
- Prepare reports, briefs, and presentations on economic and any other research questions.
- Engage with stakeholders to share findings and contribute to discussions on key issues.
- Support the organisation to stay current on developments in economics and data analysis trends to identify innovation opportunities.
Requirements and Experience
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Degree in Economics, Development Economics, Quantitative Economics, and Bachelor of Statistics
- At least three years of experience in economic analysis and research, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g. STATA, Eviews, R, Python).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts.
- Experience in data lifecycle management, including collection, analysis, and reporting.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the application of Theories of Change (TOC).
- Ability to apply M&E process-based tools, including result-based and participatory monitoring and evaluation, gender analysis frameworks, feasibility studies, data quality assurance, and reporting.
- Strong training & facilitation skills.
- Statistical analysis experience with statistical packages, specifically STATA, Alteryx, EpiInfo, ArcGIS, MS Excel, MS Access, Tableau, Drone2Map, Survey CTO, and Survey123 programming, will be an advantage.
- Experience in participatory research within last-mile communities will be an advantage.
- Team player with the ability to be self-driven.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work effectively with changing priorities and competing deadlines.
