REPORTING TO: Senior PEAL Officer – Coordination

Job Description

PEAL Officer will work with the Coordination team under the PEAL department, tasked with overseeing the coordination of data management processes related to field survey planning, training coordination, supervision of field activities, and sharing field reports for learning and data management processes improvement.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop resource plans and work plans for all the data collection activities.
  • Coordinate the training of data collectors/internal staff on the M&E methodologies, data collection tools, techniques and reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with the other teams, i.e., Finance, Human Resources, and implementation, to ensure seamless data collection.
  • Support in the development and pretesting of data collection tools.
  • Take the lead in the randomization of the respondents to be interviewed based on the RTV Sampling strategy.
  • Conduct regular data quality checks to ensure the reliability and validity of the data collected.
  • Manage the logistical aspects of the field activities while ensuring value for money.
  • Ensure compliance with RTV data collection processes, guidelines, policies, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize data collection costs and improve efficiency
  • Manage and supervise field supervisors and data collectors.
  • Lead documentation and sharing of lessons learned, best practices, and success stories from the field for cross-departmental learning and improvements.

Requirements and Experience

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Population Studies, and Development Studies.
  • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation, preferably in the context of development projects or non-profit organizations.
  • Proven experience in managing big surveys
  • Knowledge in the use of data collection software (Survey CTO, Survey 123, and KOBO collect) and data analysis software such as STATA, Excel, SPSS, and R
  • Postgraduate qualification in Monitoring & Evaluation or Project Planning would be an added advantage.
