Edson , a father of four,  lives in Kibarama village, Rukungiri district. He primarily relied on subsistence farming to support his family. When RTV piloted a Milling Machine project in his village to support women and youth headed households, Edson was excited to participate to learn new skills, serve his community, and earn additional income.

Local produce like tomatoes and onions are commonly used in Kyesabo’s cuisine and are essential to making sauce recipes. With good harvests - from her ground nuts, onion, and tomato garden -Federensi has enough to feed her family while selling the excess through her small home-based stall.

The Kitembe Women Raising Group was equipped with financial literacy knowledge; record-keeping, planning, goal-setting, and leadership skills. The group started saving and for a group member to qualify to borrow money from the group, they had to be an active and participating member. Georgina was quick to front her creative idea to the group in order to acquire a loan for a sewing machine.

Women Who Fight Poverty group was formed in November 2020 as part of Raising The Village’s (RTV) program that focuses on building financial empowerment and healthy households by providing women financial literacy training and local access to financial services through Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA).
